While laying out Activision's lineup for the second half of 2010, executives reconfirmed a number of high-profile projects. As revealed last May and reconfirmed in November, a new Call of Duty game will be released in the series' usual holiday season berth. The Treyarch-developed game is rumored to be set during the Cold War era, possibly in Vietnam. Given Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's billion-dollar-and-counting in sales, Activision is lowering expectations for the next game, with CFO Thomas Tippl saying, "We've not planned on repeating the same level of success as we enjoyed in 2009."

| This should be interesting because Treyarch has a big shoes to fill after Modern Warfare 2, and now with all the business with Infinity Ward, they will be shooting for the stars, I hope. | |

| That would be cool, kind of like a MAG thing, I hope the servers can hold though with so many people who rage quit every game, it should lag it all up unless they are thinking of something to do to penalize that | |

| treyarch is going to rip the next cod game apart. mw2 is ridiculous with gun power treyarch has not made any major mistakes yet and have been very little complaints. the next cod game may out do mw2 | |

| Meh, I am not sure, I think that most people (mainly the 5 year olds that play) gravitate towards more modern things such as modern warfare. I think CoD 7 will outdo it in quality and loyalty of audience, unlike MW2, when if there is a glitch then everyone turns their back on the game and throws a hissyfit, MW2 will have more people and will always win in sales IMO | |

From just looking at W@W i would say that CoD7 is not going to be a good game. For W@W all they did was copy the CoD4 engine. The story was very bland and frustrating. Coop campain and competitve campain were aweful ideas that just took up disc space. The multiplayer (which people buy CoD for) was a major dissapointment. The maps were too confusing and jumbled and things were overpowered. I remember buying a map pack the day after it came out and when I went to play the map pack playlist people were already skipping 2 out of the 3 maps. the weapons were aweful too. Not a single gun in the game could stand up to the mp40. In an even firefight the mp40 would win every time and when paired with juggernaut and last stand/martyrdom, people became invincible. Not to mention the out of the map glitches. It seemed like there was a new under or out of map glitch discovered every day. Treyarch was so lame at patching them that they just had to completely take out the ability to set up a bipod on the ground. Zombies was good but that cant be a whole game. Treyarch was able to to mess up WWII which was very interesting. I don't have high hopes for Vietnam, a far less interesting topic. I hope I'm wrong though

| I heard they are putting a lot more emphasis on the storyline of nazi zombies in the next one so look out for that, but i think in the age of advancing the engines and tachnologies behind the games the developers are going to have a lot more opportunities to buff the game and make it run and look nice, just look at the advances from halo 3 to halo:reach (sorry to use as a comparison since everyone on the board eithers doesn't play halo, like halo, or have an xbox) but they have made huge strides and we'll see where that will land them | |
